How to choose a cabinet for a dishwasher? Few people think about this in advance, even before installing a kitchen set. If you have a finished kitchen and you need to install a new dishwasher in it, then in this article you will find some tips. Let's choose a convenient place for equipment together.
Features of accommodation
The width of the dishwasher can be 45-60 cm. These are narrow and full-sized models with a capacity of 10-15 sets. There are also compact PMMs that can wash from 4 to 6 sets of dishes in one cycle.
To integrate appliances into a standard kitchen (such as "Ikea"), you can choose the following options:
- Embed the appliance in a niche for washing.
- Install the equipment in the cabinet reserved for cereals and pots.
- Place the PMM in the wall cabinet.
You can arrange a dishwasher under the sink. A compact model with a width of 45 cm and a height of 50-60 cm is suitable for this. Think in advance whether the dishwasher is large enough. You can load the car several times a day, but then it will not work to spend resources profitably.
An ordinary siphon under the sink "will not allow" to install the equipment. We recommend installing a compact siphon, the tube of which goes first to the side and then down.
See the example in the photo:
For the built-in PMM, the option with a stand is suitable. You can simply push one of the items in the headset and install a machine in its place. But since we are talking about embedding into the headset, the contents of the cabinet can be redone, making room for equipment.
What cabinet is needed Make sure that the width and height of the niche is 5-10 cm larger than the body of the dishwasher. This is necessary for normal ventilation.
Some users decide to install PMM in a hanging cabinet. This is possible if there is no other option. This solution has more minuses than pluses:
- Fastening furniture to the wall must be strong and reliable to withstand the load.
- Communications conducted to the water supply will look unaesthetically on the wall.
- Loading dishes will be inconvenient.
Cabinet selection for PMM
First of all, you need to consider the location of the outlet where you connect the PMM. The cabinet should be near the network. We wrote more about this in the publication “Dishwasher outlet”. Let's repeat the important points:
- A socket with a moisture-proof housing should be located at a height of 45 cm from the floor.
- Grounding is organized.
- Connection is via a difavtomat.
Not prepared for wiring and a separate outlet? Then it is better to start with the organization of electrical communications. And:
- It is advisable to choose a cabinet near the sink. When connecting, the hose length must not exceed 1.5 m - this is an additional load on the drain pump.
- A prepared niche should be at least 5 cm larger than a dishwasher.
We will prepare a place for the built-in machine.
How to make a dishwasher cabinet
You have already chosen the installation site, it remains to organize everything so that the equipment fits into the cabinet or under the countertop. If you decide to install a freestanding machine, it is easier to dismantle one stand from the headset, and put the PMM in its place.
If you chose the built-in technique, you need to redo the niche:
- Unscrew the screws that secure the cabinet to the countertop with a screwdriver.
- Remove the fasteners connecting the dishwasher to the adjacent ones.
- Take the cabinet out of the way.
- Take out the internal shelves, dismantle the back and top panels. Side walls and front part should remain.
- Do the same with the front and rear base. Only side elements should remain.
- Prepare the holes in the side panel for the outlet of the hoses. Do this from the side where the sink is located, so that the connection is simple and convenient.
- It remains to install the walls and the base and fasten them with ties.
Tip: so that the wooden countertop does not suffer from steam from the dishwasher, attach a metal sheet to the inside. It usually comes with built-in machines.
The preparatory work is over. We proceed to the connection step.
How to install a dishwasher
It remains to put the PMM in place and connect it to the water supply and drain. If the legs of the dishwasher have been adjusted before delivery, then lower them. Slide the chassis into the prepared location. Twist the legs in height. Use the fasteners that come with the kit to further secure the machine and immobilize it during operation.
Then:
- Connect the drain and inlet hose to the body.
- Guide them into the holes made.
- Connect the drain hose to the siphon.
- Connect the intake hose to the water supply. Seal all connections with fum tape and clamps.
- Plug in the socket and carry out a test run.
Conclusion: you can install a dishwasher in the kitchen with your own hands in a few hours. During the first start, monitor how water is poured and drained, whether the equipment is firmly fixed. Watch the video on the topic:
