Although the MBS trademark is not very popular on the market, it is still the place where dishwashers are launched. If the equipment is in operation, then you had to deal with malfunctions or breakdowns of parts and assemblies. It is sometimes difficult to determine why the machine does not start, so the error codes of the MBS dishwashers will help you find the place of the malfunction.
How are MBS DTCs decoded?
What are breakdown codes and how to understand what they mean? Modern dishwashers have a built-in self-diagnosis system. In the event of a stop of operation, the machine starts a program that alternately checks the internal components of the unit. When a fault is found, symbols are displayed or the indicators on the panel blink. PMM "MBS" provides for only two types of codes:
PMM displays error codes
- E1 means that water enters the hopper very slowly. The cause may be a blockage in the intake filter or hose, a blockage in the valve, or an incomplete shut-off valve. All these factors must be checked before starting repairs.
- E4. The meaning of the error is such that a water overflow occurs in the tank. The reason could be a strong pressure in the water supply system, a faulty filling valve, incorrect operation of the level sensor (pressure switch).
If there is a leak, immediately unplug the machine and turn off the inlet valve.
Codes do not always report a malfunction, sometimes it is a system failure. Rebooting will help to fix the failure and to establish the work of the equipment. Here's how to restart PMM MBS:
- Unplug the machine.
- Wait 10-15 minutes.
- Reconnect and take a look at the screen.
Did the characters disappear from the display? If not, then you will have to look for the problem and replace the damaged elements.
Dishwasher Repair MBS
Before starting an independent repair, make sure that the equipment is not under warranty. After dismantling the case, the seller’s obligations will become void. Therefore, it is easier to contact a service center.
If the dishwasher worked faithfully for several years, then feel free to proceed with the repair. How to fix problems with your own hands, as well as what kind of breakdowns are typical for the MBS brand, we will describe below.
Causes of breakdowns of the MBS dishwasher
If the machine does not report a malfunction itself, then we will find out the cause of the malfunction. The main thing is to pay attention to the signs that the PMM gives. Here are the problems typical for an MBS dishwasher:
- The technique does not turn on. What does it mean? The mains filter has blown in the machine or a circuit breaker has tripped. The water supply is low or not supplied with electricity. The electronic door lock did not work.
- Waste fluid from the tank does not drain. The drain hose is bent, the sewer or drainage filter is clogged. Perhaps the impeller of the pump is blocked by a foreign object (bone, fragments of the dishes). Or the drain pump has failed.
There is liquid in the pan
- The machine does not dry the dishes. Why does this happen? The cause of the malfunction is the wrong program or the placement of dishes. Perhaps you forgot to fill in the rinse aid or it was not enough.
- Water does not fly out of the spray nozzles. The openings are probably clogged, the spray gun is blocked, or there are problems with the circulation pump that pumps the liquid.
What to do in case of breakdowns? Review our recommendations and proceed with the repair. We will analyze each problem in more detail.
Water enters the tank slowly or not at all
Start by inspecting the inlet hose. It should be level. Perhaps he was passed by the leg of a typewriter or he twisted. Next is to clean the system from debris. Do this:
- Turn off the valve.
- Disconnect the hose from the PMM body.
- Use a pair of pliers to remove the inlet filter.
- Rinse it under the tap. The stuck rust can be removed with a soda brush.
Inlet Filter Location
Make sure the hopper door is closed properly. Until the electronic interlock works, the control module will not signal to open the valve. This is how the leakage safety system works. Therefore, press the door closer to the body, while a click should be heard.
Verify that the valve is in good condition only by using diagnostics. If you have a multimeter, then do a simple test:
- The part is located immediately behind the intake hose.
- Disconnect the terminals from the coil element.
- Press the multimeter probes to the valve contacts.
- Look at the value on the screen, the working part will show from 500 to 1500 Ohms.
- Otherwise, the display will not change.
To replace, unscrew the bolts securing the inlet element and install the replacement part. It is better to select the original spare part that is suitable for your PMM model.
The machine does not start
There are two reasons for this problem. The first is the lack of water intake. In this case, the indicators on the panel light up, but the washing program does not start. How to deal with this problem is described above.
The second is a problem with the electronics. At the same time, the panel does not respond at all to pressing, the lamps do not light up. Here are some things to check:
- Is there electricity in the room.
- Is the dishwasher plugged in? The plug may be unplugged.
- Is the power cord ok? If insulation damage is visible, replace the cord immediately.
- Does the outlet work? Connect another device to it and make sure that it is working.
Any problems with the electrics are best left to the master.
Another problem may be the surge protector. This fuse protects the entire electronics of the machine from power surges. Therefore, the filter suffers first. There is a part behind the cord. It is enough to inspect the fuse to make sure that it is broken. On its surface, burnouts and swellings will be visible. In this case:
It looks like a surge protector
- Disconnect the wiring from the filter.
- Unscrew the fasteners.
- Install the replacement part.
To avoid problems with the electronics, it is recommended that you install a voltage regulator.
Liquid does not leave the tank
This is indeed a problem in which leftover food remains in the pan along with water. Until the problem is resolved, the operation of the machine becomes impossible. Here are some things to check first:
- The location of the drain hose. It should not be bent, otherwise the obstacle will not allow the liquid to go into the drain.
- Sewer or siphon. Disconnect the hose from the joint with the pipe and check for obstruction. To clean the sewer, it is better to call the plumbing.
Also check the drain filter. According to the manufacturer's recommendations, the part must be cleaned after each wash. Do this:
- Open the hopper and remove the baskets.
- Unscrew the filter in the pan.
- Clean from debris, rinse with water with soda or citric acid.
- Remove water from the landing hole.
- Remove the protective cover and check if the impeller of the pump is blocked.
If all these methods did not help to cope with the problem, then you need to check and replace the pump. Here's how to do it yourself:
- Disconnect the PMM from the network and communications.
- Turn the housing over to the side.
- Remove the bottom by unfastening the latches or removing the screws.
- Disconnect the terminals from the pump.
- Loosen the hose clamp and remove from place.
- Turn the pump and get out.
In the event of a malfunction, replace the new part in the reverse order.
Nozzles spray water poorly
Nozzles are holes in the sprinklers. The circulation pump (engine) pumps and delivers water under pressure, so the jets are pulled out with sufficient force to wash away the dirt from the dishes. Perhaps the holes are clogged with debris or the engine is out of order.
It’s easy to clean the impellers:
- Remove sprayers by pulling up or turning to the side.
- Clean the holes with a toothpick, rinse under the tap.
But if the pump does not work, you will have to completely change the unit. The above describes how to disassemble the bottom of the dishwasher. How to fix a breakdown? Then proceed as follows:
- Unfasten the wiring from the recirculation unit.
- Unfasten a collar and remove a branch pipe from a place.
- Unscrew a bolt of the second collar and dismantle a hose.
- Install a new engine.
PMM does not dry dishes
You take out plates, and on them wet streaks? The drying mode was supposed to dry the dishes, but this did not happen. Why? There are several reasons, and all are related to operational errors.
- Devices are placed too tightly, blocking part of each other. Place the dishes as instructed.
- Little rinse aid. Increase the dose and pour into the dispenser.
- Dishes were removed too soon. Do not remove appliances immediately after washing, let them dry and cool. Immediately take the dishes from the lower baskets so that moisture from the upper does not drip onto the surface.
- The program is selected incorrectly. Set a long cycle so that drying takes longer.
The instruction will help to avoid errors in operation and premature PMM breakdowns. Follow the recommendations and care for the equipment.
